Film 223/365, Day 241/365 – Rocky IV

Dolph Lundgren and Sylvester Stallone meet long before The Expendables and long before all the surgery!  What you should expect from this film is lots of stereotypes, lots of rubbish boxing and cheesy lines.  It is by no means the worst film I’ve seen but it isn’t that good either.  The best bit is the training montage as it always is.

Synopsis:  Russian Boxer Ivan Drago comes to America to challenge the world champion Rocky Balboa.  Instead former champion Apollo Creed steps up to fight the Russian.  Apollo has been retired for five years and the fight doesn’t go quite as he planned.  Rocky must now go to Russia to avenge Apollo.

Film 101/365, Day 107/365 – Rocky

A real feel good underdog film.  What can you say about Rocky?  He’s the lovable loser who everyone wants to win, to get the girl and to turn his life around.   But it’s not just about that, there are plenty of montages to enjoy as Rocky focuses on training in preparation for the fight of his life.  Surely everyone has seen this film, haven’t they?

Synopsis: Apollo Creed, the reigning heavyweight boxing champion of the world, needs an opponent.  His original opponent has broken a bone and cannot fight and with only five weeks to train he can’t find a professional to take his place.  Enter Rocky Balboa, the Italian Stallion, an amateur boxer selected by Apollo because of his nickname finally has his shot at the top prize.
