The Castle

Darryl Kerrigan has the perfect house, perfect for his family anyway. He can't understand how he got it so cheap, it's walking distance to the airport and very close to power cables... ideal! But when the airport wants to expand and sets about purchasing his house he's not going to sit back and let them take his castle!

For anyone that has spent any time in Australia or New Zealand this will speak so many truths, if you haven't don't worry it's still very funny. If you like Kath and Kim then this will be right up your street. This is absolutely a great feel good comedy which really has to be seen. Also watch out for a young Eric Bana.

Film 258/365, Day 283/365 – Hulk

It’s not nearly as bad as they would have you believe.  I think Ang Lee did a pretty good job of bringing the famous comic book hero to life whilst maintaining the feel of the original comics.  It has lots of action and a strong story, only criticism is that it probably went on too long.

Synopsis:  Scientist Bruce Banner is doing some experimental research on nanobots.  An experiment that goes horribly wrong awakens Bruce’s hidden past and transforms him into the Hulk, a creature of limitless power.  Something that the military are very keen to get their hands on.

The best thing however to come from this film is this joke as told by Stuart Lee about a conversation he had with Ang Lee, hilarious!

Film 45/365, Day 51/365 – The Time Traveller’s Wife

Henry DeTamble has a very rare genetic condition. When he becomes stressed he involuntarily travels through time to a time and location that he cannot control. Whilst on one of these episodes he travels into the past where he meets Clare, his future wife, as a child. Clare’s childhood is peppered with these meetings until as a grown woman she finally meets Henry in the correct time-line.

I’m not entirely sure how The Time Traveller’s Wife made me feel. On one hand it is a fantastic story, excellently shot and acted. On the other hand it is a romantic story about a man who travels back in time and meets his future wife as a child and pretty much ensures that they will be together in the future. Hmmm!
