The Dark Knight Rises

Fours year ago today I wandered over to my local cinema at 8:50 in the morning grabbed a cup of tea and sat down to watch The Dark Knight, which was excellent.  Well this is the exact same team that made that, so... should you expect anything different?  No, not really this is yet another excellent film from Christopher Nolan, it's dark, edgy and ultimately very satisfying.

My only criticism would be that I saw the ending coming a mile off and it would be nice to have another motive for the villain other than destroying Gotham City, but it was still a very good way to end the trilogy.  Who will pick it up from here?

Film 312/365, Day 334/365 – G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra

Some action but very little story.  This film is so desperate to be Star Wars that I almost started to feel sorry for it.  It is also a feature length advert with all of the main characters with their action figure names and flash vehicles and armour, shameless.  Some of the accents are beyond ridiculous, especially the British ones!

Synopsis:  A convoy carrying a dangerous weapon is attacked by a mysterious military team and whilst they are unsuccessful in stealing the weapon it’s just the start of things.  Soon the secret military G.I. Joe will be going head to head with the mysterious Cobra terrorists.

Film 34/365, Day 37/365 – Inception

Dom Cobb is a thief, although he doesn’t steal anything physical, he specializes in stealing information from people through their dreams. When one of his contracts turns out to be a test for a much larger more dangerous job Dom can’t help but accept the job. Especially as in return his employee will erase his previous criminal charges so the he can return home and see his children.

I’ve read a few reviews and even after seeing the sychophantic write ups I had my hestitations about seeing another DiCaprio film. Whilst the special effects and the world that Inception thrusts you into is visually exceptional I can’t help be feel that the story wasn’t really something new. A virtual world with a virtual world; is this really the real world or is it another virtual world? I got it I just didn’t think it was quite as good as people made out.
