Friends with Benefits

As far as romantic comedies go this is actually quite good.  Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake were good together, although it was Woody Harrleson who stole the show.  Basically two friends both fed up with relationships decide that to satisfy their needs they would help each other out, so to speak.  The outcome is as predictable as any rom-com but as with all of these it’s more about the journey than the result, which for the most part is very funny.

The Cabin in the Woods

Ok, I’m going to try and tell you about the Cabin in the Woods without any spoilers! Basically there is a cabin… and… it’s in the woods. If I tell you any more I could ruin it for you, so I won’t.

I will tell you however that this is the most important film to happen to the horror genre since Scream. This will forever change how you view horror films and how you remember horror films you’ve seen before. Now I’m not talking about the unnecessarily grotesque movies like Hostel that I have very little time for, but the monster movies like Friday the 13th, the sort of films that have a set of rules that must be adhered to. Well the Cabin in the Woods not only adheres to these rules and clichés but it smashes them to pieces all in the same action. Watch this film it is simply fantastic!

Film 144/365, Day 154/365 – Step Brothers

Uncomfortable with occasional moments of actual comedy.  There are actually some very funny moments in Step Brothers, unfortunately they are quite few and far between.  For the most part it is just very awkward to watch.  The premise itself is ridiculous.  I like Will Ferrell but sadly he was at his funniest in Old School and has been unable to match that since.

Synopsis:  Nancy and Robert met at a medical conference and instantly hi it off.  They had so much in common, both still have a live at home son, both of the sons are in their fourties!  Things went so well that Nancy and Robert eventually got married and now they are moving the family into one home.  It’s going to be interesting to say the least.
