One day antiques dealer Jesus Gris discovers a small golden object hidden inside a statue. When he winds its key the golden object begins to move, then all of a sudden it grabbed his hand and begins to gorge on his blood. Jesus hides the object but soon he discovers that there are people looking for it, people who will do anything to get hold of it.
Cronos is Guillermo del Toro’s first feature film and has all of the hallmarks of his work. It is beautifully shot and the use of music is exceptional, turning scenes of horror to sorrow. The story is compelling and keeps you watching and waiting. It is not quite as good as Pan’s Labaryth, although that was a truly exceptional film, but whether you are a del Toro fan or not you should enjoy this.
