Film 289/365, Day 320/365 – Quantum of Solace

Another excellent Bond film packed with non-stop heart stopping action, the scene where they are falling out of the plane is one in particular... what a rush.  The story is not quite as good as Casino Royale but is a great way to continue things.  Daniel Craig is quickly becoming my favourite Bond.  Bring on Skyfall!

Synopsis:  Following on from the end of Casino Royale Bond is determined to get revenge for the death of his girlfriend.  Then when a sinister organisation attempts to assassinate M the paths begin to cross and lead him to Dominic Greene, a world renowned developer of green-technologies.   

Film 204/365, Day 217/365 – Tamara Drewe

Charming, funny and very entertaining.  Tamara Drewe is what you have come to expect from the quirky brilliant English comedies, it has a great script, a wonderful range of characters and some brilliant dark and funny moments.  Although I still can’t believe Tamara would get together with that seedy old bastard...  Great film.

Synopsis:  Tamara Drewe left Ewedown when she was a teenager.  After her mother passed away leaving her the family home she is forced to return complete with her new nose.  Now she is turning heads all over the village.

Film 150/365, Day 160/365 – The Disappearance of Alice Creed

Gripping and utterly enthralling.  The Disappearance of Alice Creed is an excellently shot film, the atmosphere is brilliantly portrayed and the acting as good as it gets really.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and had basically not heard of it until LoveFilm recommended it, so, thanks LoveFilm good work.  Watch it if you enjoy a good Brit thriller.

Synopsis:  Two men appear to have planned out the perfect kidnapping.  All of the details have been meticulously planned right down to the girl.  But then nothing really ever goes to plan… does it?

Film 71/365, Day 72/365 – Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

I love a good epic so had high hopes for Prince of Persia, and whilst some of the action is very entertaining and the vistas are stunning it felt like the story had been a little too Disney-fied.  On the plus side Gemma Arterton gets a lot of screen time, and that is no bad thing.  Also try and spot Jeff from Coupling!  Good fun but too simple!

Synopsis: The adopted son of the Persian king is framed and accused of killing his father and is ruthlessly hunted across the lands.  He finds a number of unlikely allies including the Princess of the city he just helped invade.  A mystical secret is buried at the heart of the betrayal that could lead to untold power or the destruction of mankind.

Film 62/365, Day 65/365 – Clash of the Titans

It all seemed too easy.  Admittedly Perseus’ father is Zeus but solutions just seem to drop out of the sky to help him.  It is supposed to be a quest but Perseus doesn’t appear to have anything that he needs to overcome in order to complete his quest.  There was some good action scenes and some excellent panoramics.  The acting was acceptable for an action film, for me it was just the execution of the story that let it down, especially as the original was one of the first films I remember watching.

Synopsis: Perseus’ family have just died at the hands of Hades, who has also declared to the city of Argos that he will release the Kraken unless the Princess of Argos is sacrificed.  In order to stop the Kraken, save the people of Argos and make Hades pay Perseus must go on a quest where he will discover that he is the son of Zeus, battle giant scorpions and come face to face with Medusa!
