Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

I saw the trailer for this about a month ago and it blew me away... that is were this tale sadly ends!  This was nothing like the trailer, the trailer was fast paced, aggressive and comedic in a slightly absurd way.  In reality it was much slower, almost period drama slow in places, and the vampires were almost as scary as those found in Buffy the Vampire slayer or maybe even Sesame Street!  There were some entertaining moments but they were few and far between.

The most notable thing throughout was the over reliance (to the point of obsession) on 3D effects and I'd rather see an end to all this 3D nonsense and some actual focus of clever and funny stories.  Also Ab seemed to age far faster than his best friend who looked pretty much the same the whole way through (and no not his vampire friend)!

Film 346/365, Day 358/365 – Captain America: The First Avenger

Good action, plenty of cheese and an average story line.  Not since the first Spiderman film have we had a comic book superhero film with a complete story.  All of them appear to be building up to something else, which is fine, but I would like to see a complete story in one sitting every once and a while.

Synopsis:  Steve Rogers is so desperate to serve his country in the Second World War that he agrees to take part in an experimental procedure to become the first super soldier.  The Hydra organisation are determined to make sure that it doesn’t happen.

Film 204/365, Day 217/365 – Tamara Drewe

Charming, funny and very entertaining.  Tamara Drewe is what you have come to expect from the quirky brilliant English comedies, it has a great script, a wonderful range of characters and some brilliant dark and funny moments.  Although I still can’t believe Tamara would get together with that seedy old bastard...  Great film.

Synopsis:  Tamara Drewe left Ewedown when she was a teenager.  After her mother passed away leaving her the family home she is forced to return complete with her new nose.  Now she is turning heads all over the village.
