Film 210/365, Day 225/365 – The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest

Better than the second but not as good as the first, this is the third and final film in the trilogy.  It’s very much more of the same with murders, conspiracies and socially awkward Lisbeth.  There are some very unusual decisions throughout mostly in the court room but also with the editor of Millennium pulling the magazine when threatened, surely it’s not the first time someone has threatened them!

Synopsis:  Following the events from the second movie Lisbeth is in hospital recovering from her injuries.  She’s been charged with attempting to kill her father and the same people that tried to keep her quite when she was twelve have no interest in letting her talk now.

Film 188/365, Day 199/365 – The Girl Who Played with Fire

Another good crime thriller based on the books by Stieg Larsson.  It's not quite as good as the first film but is still worth watching as there is plenty of intrigue.  Once more however it would appear that Sweden is full of perverts and murderers which probably isn't a fair reflection.  It certainly hasn't put me off watching the third film (or even the Hollywood versions).  Good but nothing special.

Synopsis: A young reporter comes to Mikael Blomqvist with a story about high profile members of society who have been involved in sex trafficking, one way or another.  But then the young reporter his murder and Lisbeth is the police's prime suspect!

Film 155/365, Day 163/365 – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Excellent Swedish crime thriller.  One of the things I liked with the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is that you generally learn things as the characters do which I think makes it more enjoyable.  The worrying thing however is that it looks like there isn’t much to do in Sweden except rape and murder but then the same could be said for any crime drama location (except here everyone seems to be doing it)!!!  Good film, it will be interesting to see how the Hollywood version compares.

Synopsis:  Mikael Blomkvist has been hired by the former head of the Vanger Corporation to find out who killed his niece forty years ago.  The Vanger Corporation is a family run business where nobody really likes each other so they could all be suspects.  With Mikael struggling to discover any new information he hires Lisbeth Salander, a computer hacker, to help in his investigation.
