Film 302/365, Day 328/365 – Surrogates

Not completely unbelievable and very interesting.  What if like in games like Second Life and World of Warcraft where you can customise your avatar you could customise a robot and live your life through that?  You could appear however you wanted, it would quite literally change lives.  But is that really you?  Raise some very interesting ideas.

Synopsis:  In the future most of mankind no longer ventures outside of their homes, instead they use surrogates to go about their daily lives.  Surrogates are a customizable robot that they are able to control using only their minds.  But when two people and their surrogates are killed a cop must venture out into the world without his surrogate to get to the bottom of things.

Film 227/365, Day 242/365 – Striptease

Here’s a hint... the clue is in the title!  The story is fairly obvious however there are plenty of funny moments, most notably Burt Reynolds covered in baby oil in just a Cowboy hat and boots.  Oh and there is one more thing that you need to know... Demi Moore is the star of the show... she’s a stripper!  Enjoy!!!

Synopsis:  A mother loses custody of her daughter to her abusive ex-husband.  In an attempt to fund an appear and get her daughter back she takes a job stripping at the Eager Beaver!  Things are going fine until a Congressman becomes obsessed with her.

Film 213/365, Day 228/365 – Pulp Fiction

Brilliant, it is now seventeen years old and it is still brilliant.  What a cast, what music and the characters are all excellent.  Not really a great deal more to say about it other than it’s great and if you haven’t seen it then this is definitely the next film you should watch.

Synopsis:  Four stories of violence and redemption are interwoven to create this cult film.  Two hit men on a routine assignment, a boxer and a mob boss who have unfinished business, a man who takes his bosses wife out on a date and two robbers who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Film 108/365, Day 119/365 – Dawn of the Dead

Packed with heart pounding action and zombie goodness.  This is the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead and whilst I do love the original, I can’t help but feel that this is as good as the original if not a little better.  Again Romero purists will probably not like the fast mobile zombies but I think it works very well in this instance.  If you like zombie films you have to watch this, no doubt about it.

Synopsis:  When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.  A motley group of survivors have found sanctuary from the zombies within the local mall.  They have everything they could ever want or need available to them from within the mall but is that enough?  Will they survive?  Will help ever come?  And who is the bigger threat the zombies or the fellow survivors?

Film 15/365, Day 15/365 – I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

Brooklyn firefighter Larry Valentine is determined to ensure his children are looked after should anything happen to him, but when his wife died he didn’t arrange for his children to be the beneficiary of pension. Desperate times call for desperate measures and as a result Larry convinces his friend and co-worker, Chuck, to enter into a civil partnership with him so that he can change his policy, the only problem is they are both straight and now the pensions department are investigating them for fraud. They are going to have to ‘gay this shit up’ if they are to avoid jail!

This is easily Adam Sandler’s best film since The Water Boy, and possibly one of his funniest. Ving Rhames is unbelievably funny; be prepared to see him as you would’ve never imagined. Basically the story is as predictable as they come, but the characters all work incredibly well together and make I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and very good film packed with real laugh-out-loud moments.
