Film 254/365, Day 275/365 – Happy Gilmore

Very funny!  It’s a pretty simple story and Happy is a pretty simple guy, but it is still one of the funniest films from the 90’s.  Adam Sandler has done that which seems pretty impossible, he has made golf entertaining!  Expect lots of fury, rage and stuff that you just wouldn’t normally find at a golf course.  Excellent.

Synopsis:  Happy Gilmore has always dreamt of being an ice hockey player, the only problem is that he can’t skate.  He does however have an incredibly powerful shot which he soon will help him earn enough money to save his Grandmother’s house by becoming a pro golfer!

Film 222/365, Day 238/365 – Just Go With It

There are some absolutely hilarious moments in this film, some pretty stunning bodies and a very predictable story.  The funny stuff and bodies more than make up for the storyline which is cute but like I said very predictable.  Worth watching for the scene with Brooklyn Decker in her bikini alone.

Synopsis:  Danny is a renowned plastic surgeon who wears a wedding ring to help him pull girls!  When Danny thinks he has found the girl of his dreams he has to convince her that he is getting a divorce.  However she wants to meet his wife, so Danny convinces his assistant to pretend to be his wife and things quickly escalate out of control.

Film 220/365, Day 237/365 – The Wedding Singer

It’s funny, it’s silly and it’s packed full of awful 1980s clothing.  No really, it is a completely unashamed view of the 1980s.  It is a rom-com but Adam Sandler provides enough laughs to keep it interesting for everyone else.

Synopsis:  Robbie Hart is a wedding singer.  He loves weddings, that is until his fiancĂ© leaves him standing at the altar.  Now he hates them and he hates love.  However he soon begins to rediscover his former self when he begins to fall for Julia, a waitress that he is helping to plan her wedding!

Film 129/365, Day 139/365 – The Waterboy

Funny, ridiculous and stupid, but you can’t help but love it.  It’s not Adam Sandler’s best work but it does have some very funny moments and the football scenes are pretty good especially watching Bobby visualising to help him get mad.  Water sucks, but Gatorade is better!!!  Good but not great.

Synopsis:  One day lowly high school football water boy Bobby Boucher snaps after years of abuse and when he does snap he finally reveals an extraordinary gift for tackling people.  The problem is that his mother doesn’t want him to play football.  Eventually the coach manages to convince Bobby’s mother to allow him to play.

Film 15/365, Day 15/365 – I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

Brooklyn firefighter Larry Valentine is determined to ensure his children are looked after should anything happen to him, but when his wife died he didn’t arrange for his children to be the beneficiary of pension. Desperate times call for desperate measures and as a result Larry convinces his friend and co-worker, Chuck, to enter into a civil partnership with him so that he can change his policy, the only problem is they are both straight and now the pensions department are investigating them for fraud. They are going to have to ‘gay this shit up’ if they are to avoid jail!

This is easily Adam Sandler’s best film since The Water Boy, and possibly one of his funniest. Ving Rhames is unbelievably funny; be prepared to see him as you would’ve never imagined. Basically the story is as predictable as they come, but the characters all work incredibly well together and make I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and very good film packed with real laugh-out-loud moments.
