Film 337/365, Day 351/365 – Desperado

Insanely brilliant.  Robert Rodriguez delivers an insane ultra violent tale of revenge.  There are countless excellent gun fights throughout although the story is a bit basic, but then who cares.  Antonio Banderas is cool and incredibly slick as El Mariachi and Salma Hayek is smoking hot!

Synopsis:  A Mariachi player goes on the warpath with a local drug lord who killed his girlfriend and shot him in the hand ending his days as a Mariachi.

Film 286/365, Day 318/365 – Assassins

Standard action film with some good gun battles and car chases.  At just over two hours assassins is possibly a little too long for what it is really.  Everyone is quite good without anyone really excelling in their roles.  Good without really being great.

Synopsis:  Rath, an assassin, attempts to quit and walk away but Bain, a younger assassin, seeks to be regarded as the best.  Bain believes that he will only be the best once he has made Rath’s retirement permanent. 

Film 270/365, Day 299/365 – Interview with the Vampire

Dark, sinister and captivating.  There are excellent performances from all involved in this gothic tale of companionship and indulgence.  The vampires are twisted, devious and brazen, not the least bit sparkly and loved up!  An excellent story that is full of thrill and excitement that is well worth watching.

Synopsis:  A reporter is approached by a man who claims to be over 200 hundred years old.  Soon he is revealing his past, how he became a vampire, how he has survived and all about the secret underworld that exists all around us.

Film 257/365, Day 281/365 – Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever

A pointless story with one or two decent action sequences.  The only point worth watching in this film is when Lucy Liu is being followed and then in turns kicks a lot of ass.  The rest of the film is a complete and utter waste of time.  The story is appalling, the acting not much better and it failed to hold my full attention for 92 minutes which isn’t too much to ask for is it?

Synopsis:  Eck, a grieving FBI agent, is brought back into service to bring down a rogue DIA agent.  But not all is as it seems.

Film 202/365, Day 216/365 – Femme Fatale

A twisty turvy thriller from Brian De Palma.  The story isn’t bad, it does enough to keep you watching, but not quite enough to really grab you.  The single best thing about this film is Rebecca Romijn, ding dong!!!  If I was rating Rebecca it would be five stars, this film however only gets three.  Not bad, but not brilliant.

Synopsis:  Laurie, a diamond thief that double crossed the team she was working with, is mistaken for a lady who has just lost her husband and child.  She assumes the identity of the lady and disappears to America.  Seven years later she is forced to return to France her old team are still looking for her.
