Transformers: Dark of the Moon

This is one hundred and forty eight minutes of rubbish! If it had been played at normal speed it would have been about an hour long. There are so many things wrong with this film, the over use of slow motion action sequences accompanied by the same annoying dramatic music sequence, Shia LaBeouf, the constant crappy monologues from Optimus Prime all the way through the film. At the heart there was a reasonable story that tied in with real world events but even that couldn't come close to saving it. At no point did I feel any connection with any of the characters, ultimately this was yet another painful and boring film from Michael Bay, oh and good news looks like there is another one to come in 2014!!!

Film 174/365, Day 184/365 – Transformers

Jaw dropping action sequences.  Michael Bay delivers, as always, lots and lots of explosions and fantastic action sequences, more than enough slow motion overly dramatised scenes and a story that is average at best.  It is loads of fun but is not even close to the original animated Transformers movie from 1986.

Synopsis:  When Sam buys a car he gets more than he bargained for as the car is alive, to be more precise it is a transforming non-biological extra terrestrial.  Now Sam is stuck in the middle of a war, a war that will decide the outcome of humanity.

Film 91/365, Day 96/365 – Constantine

A dark and mysterious thriller, Constantine actually has a very good story and uses some fantastic special effects.  Keanu Reeves is actually very good as John Constantine although the best character is Satan played by Peter Stormare who sadly doesn’t appear until the end but is well worth the wait.  Definitely worth watching.

Synopsis: Constantine is damned, damned for the life he took, his own.  Technically dead for several minutes he now spends his time trying to make amends by using his gifts to stop demons from crossing into the human world.  When Detective Angela Dodson comes to Constantine for his help even he can’t quite imagine the extent of the situation.

Film 35/365, Day 37/365 – Surf’s Up

Cody Maverick is alone in his colony of penguins. He is the only one who surfs, inspired by a visit from Big Z when he was younger. Now he has a chance at competing in the Big Z memorial surf tournament. When Cody goes head to head with the reigning champion, Tank ‘The Shredder’ Evans, he wipes out and needs to be rescued by the lifeguard. With his confidence shaken can a new found mentor help him rediscover his love of surfing?

Surf’s Up is told in the form of a documentary which works excepetionally well. One of the best elements is the excellent supporting cast, Chicken Joe is probably my favourite. Primarily this is a childrens film but there is plenty in there for adults. It’s lots of fun and definitely one to watch.
