Film 171/365, Day 176/365 – The Tourist

A bit predictable but oddly compelling.  Everyone looks good, which isn’t difficult when Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp are your stars, the story is quite good but like I said predictable but for what ever reason you can’t help but wait for it to all play out.  Good fun but that’s about it.

Synopsis:  Frank, a maths teacher from Wisconsin, is on his way to Venice when a mysterious woman sits opposite him and before he knows what's happening he is staying in her hotel, being chased by Russian gangsters and Interpol who all believe he is someone else.  Will Frank be able to convince everyone who he is?

Film 166/365, Day 171/365 – Kung Fu Panda

There is no charge for Awesomeness.  Except if you buy Kung Fu Panda, which is something I would very much recommend.  It is excellent packed full of fantastic lines and hilarious Kung Fu action.  Kung Fu Panda is a thoroughly enjoyable film and one that could be watched again and again.  Awesome!

Synopsis:  Po dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master, the only problem is he has had no training, his father wants him to take up the family noodle business and he’s a panda!  One day however after a serious of accidents he is chosen to become the Dragon Warrior.  Will he complete the training or will it be too much for him?

Film 134/365, Day 145/365 – Lara Croft: The Cradle of Life

Hello Lara!  Angelina is back for her second film as busty video game hero Lara Croft.  It is pretty much the same sort of thing as the first film, lots of action and over the top stunts with some mystical treasure hunting thrown in.  And if you liked the first film then there is now reason you won’t like the second.  As good as the first one.

Synopsis:  Lara Croft is back and this time she is searching for Pandora’s Box believed to hold all of the evils in the world and It’s going to be a race against an evil weapons manufacturer, who specializes in biological weapons and seeks to use it for his own evil purpose.  Can Lara find Pandora’s Box in time?

Film 128/365, Day 138/365 – Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

Action, intrigue and Angelina at her absolute hottest.  Yes, it’s far fetched and yes, it is completely over the top.  You also have to remember that it is based on a video game about a woman with big boobs who solves mystical mysteries.  Well that is exactly what you get from the film, plus some pretty good action sequences.  Guilty pleasure!

Synopsis:  Lara Croft, the daughter of an English Lord, is an expert treasure hunter and tomb raider.  One night she is woken by a ticking sound, only to find a secret ancient artifact hidden away by her late father.  The clock could hold the key to control time itself, but that means that the Illuminati, a secret organisation with goals of world domination, have their eye on it also.

Film 84/365, Day 89/365 – Mr and Mrs Smith

It’s silly, absurd and very entertaining.  Forget your silly little arguments with the other half, this is how real couples fight… with guns, knives and bombs! OK, maybe not but it isn’t half fun.  The best thing is how tongue in cheek the whole thing is, if it had been deadly serious it wouldn’t have been half as good.

Synopsis: John and Jane Smith are like most married couples, everything looks fine on the surface but they both have a dirty little secret that they are keeping from one another, they are both professional assassins who work for rival firms and everyone knows except them.  So when there working lives finally clash you can expect fireworks!

Film 1/365, Day 1/365 – Salt

Evelyn Salt is a field agent for the CIA, but everything changes when a Russian defector shows up unannounced.  He reveals some far fetched stories and then tells them that a Russian sleeper agent will assassinate the Russian President attending a funeral.  Then he finally reveals the name of the Russian sleeper agent… Evelyn Salt!

If I’m completely honest, and I have no reason not to be, Salt was a good fun film however it felt like it was missing something… and I’m still not quite sure what.  It had lots of action, plenty of twists and turns, some more obvious than others, but enough to keep you interested.  Although I still can’t shake this feeling that it hasn’t really ended…
